Vampire Shrimp (Siniharjarapu)

Scientific Name: Atya gabonensis
Origin: West Africa and South America
Size: 10–15 cm (4–6 inches)
Water Parameters: Temp: 23–28 °C | pH: 6.5–7.5 | dH: 4–15
Personality & Behavior: A gentle giant of the aquarium. Despite the spooky name, they have no claws at all. Instead, their front legs have evolved into beautiful fans (or brushes) used to filter micro-food directly from the water current. They require a strong water flow and plenty of good hiding spots.
Did you know? Vampire shrimp can change their color after molting or to match their environment! They can range from bright light blue and dark grey to pinkish or even wood-brown.
Amano Shrimp (Amanorapu)

Scientific Name: Caridina multidentata
Origin: Japan and Taiwan
Size: 3–5 cm (1.2–2 inches)
Water Parameters: Temp: 20–27 °C | pH: 6.5–7.5 | dH: 4–14
Personality & Behavior: The hardest-working algae eater in the aquarium world. They are much larger, bolder, and more active than dwarf shrimp. They keep algae in check and will occasionally grab an entire food pellet right from under another inhabitant's nose and run off with it in their arms.
Did you know? The species was popularized by the famous Japanese aquascaper Takashi Amano, who introduced them to the hobby after realizing how incredibly efficient they are at combating algae.
Blue Dream Shrimp (Sininen sukarapu)

Scientific Name: Neocaridina davidi var. "Blue Dream"
Origin: Selective breeding (wild species native to East Asia)
Size: 2–3 cm (0.8–1.2 inches)
Water Parameters: Temp: 18–26 °C | pH: 6.5–8.0 | dH: 4–14
Personality & Behavior: Tireless little workers, constantly cleaning plant leaves and the substrate with their tiny claws. They breed easily in freshwater, and their rich navy-blue color makes them look like tiny sapphires walking around the tank.
Did you know? Their blue is so deep that without proper aquarium lighting, they look almost completely black! But the moment the light hits them, their stunning dark blue coloration really pops. This high-grade color morph is highly prized by hobbyists worldwide.
Zebra Nerite Snail (Seeprakotilo)

Scientific Name: Neritina natalensis
Origin: East Africa (coastlines of Kenya, Tanzania, and Mozambique)
Size: 2–3 cm (0.8–1.2 inches)
Water Parameters: Temp: 22–26 °C | pH: 7.0–8.2 | dH: 8–20 (needs minerals for shell strength)
Personality & Behavior: A strikingly striped, elite algae eater. Zebra nerites eat only algae and biofilm on the glass, leaving aquarium plants completely untouched. Extremely efficient at keeping glass surfaces sparkling clean.
Did you know? Zebra nerites cannot reproduce in freshwater, as their larvae require brackish water to develop. This makes them highly popular because they won't overpopulate your tank.
Yellow Rabbit Snail (Keltainen Sulawesikotilo)

Scientific Name: Tylomelania sp. "Yellow"
Origin: Sulawesi, Indonesia (ancient Malili lake system)
Size: 6–10 cm (2.4–4 inches)
Water Parameters: Temp: 25–30 °C | pH: 7.5–8.5 | dH: 6–15 (requires warm, alkaline water)
Personality & Behavior: An extremely charismatic and curious inhabitant. Features a long, dark spiral shell and a bright yellow head resembling an elephant's trunk. Moves actively on the substrate, exploring its surroundings with a charming, waddling motion.
Did you know? Unlike most snails, Tylomelania do not lay eggs—they give birth to live young! The mother carries a single baby inside her shell and eventually releases a tiny, fully formed mini-rabbit snail onto the substrate.
