mist or water filled the valley
a bright point of light appeared in the center
the observer stood in the right place to see the geometry

The Cube Was the Symbol of the “Unseen World”
In Sumerian cosmology, the sphere represented the visible, shining, revealed world.
The cube represented the opposite:
the hidden
the deep
the unmanifest
the source
the foundation
the “inside” of reality
They called this hidden realm the Abzu — the deep waters beneath the earth.
Ea’s Temple Was Literally a Cube
Ea was the god who rose from the cube, metaphorically speaking.
