The Archangel pigeon is a slender European breed of Columba livia domestica recognized for its natural metallic plumage. Its body is elongated with long wings, a narrow chest, and a smooth head profile. The defining trait is its iridescent body color: gold, copper, bronze, or green, created by structural feather reflection layered over pigment, often contrasted with darker wing shields. Feathers are sleek and close-fitting. Alert and active yet manageable, Archangels retain the species’ monogamous breeding habits and strong territorial nesting instincts.

The Old German Owl is a compact domestic pigeon (Columba livia domestica) developed in Germany. It has a short, broad body with a full rounded chest, upright stance, and a smooth, rounded head finished with a small shell crest. The beak is short and proportionate, and the eyes are typically dark. Feathering is tight and clean, appearing in numerous solid and patterned color varieties shaped through selective inheritance. Calm and steady in temperament, it adapts well to loft life and maintains the strong pair bonding and social flock behavior typical of the rock dove.

Its plumage is pure white, clean and tight against the body, giving it a striking, ceremonial appearance in motion. Known for speed and stamina, it combines grace in the air with a calm, alert expression at rest.

There is actually no scientific distinction between doves and pigeons. Both names refer to members of the same family, Columbidae, a large group of roughly 350 plump, slender-billed bird species. The name "dove" is conventionally applied to smaller members of the family, while "pigeon" tends to refer to the larger, stouter birds, but this is purely informal. Columba livia is the species known as the rock dove, and it is the wild ancestor of every feral city pigeon you've ever seen: domesticated descendants of rock doves escaped over centuries and thrived in urban areas worldwide, while the original wild rock dove has been largely displaced and now survives only in isolated populations in the UK, a few remote parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland. So in short, "dove" and "pigeon" are interchangeable common names, and the ubiquitous city pigeon is simply a feral form of Columba livia.

The pigeons enjoy a rich and varied diet sourced from several trusted brands, with Versele-Laga being among the most reputable. Their feed typically consists of a carefully balanced blend of grains, legumes, and seeds including: peas, trapper peas, maple peas, Austrian peas, milo, red milo, maize, dari, peeled oats, wheat, safflower, white millet, mung beans, buckwheat, lentils, fennel, and vegetable oil, supplemented with various types of grit to aid digestion. During the winter months, their corn intake is increased to provide the extra calories needed to stay warm and maintain energy through the colder season.
