🛰️ Welcome to Guinea Pig Station! Observing the lives of Castanha (Food Vacuum) & Branca (Investigator)
🐹 The Residents

Welcome to the station! Here is a quick briefing on our primary inhabitants:
- Castanha: The Food Vacuum. If you see her, she is likely eating. If she isn't eating, she is thinking about it. Her impressive "robust" physique is a result of years of dedicated lettuce disposal.
- Branca: The Chief Investigator. Branca is the brave explorer of the duo. She is usually the first to scout new tunnels or investigate why the humans are making noise.
🧼 Cleaning Schedule
To keep the station operational, we follow a strict sanitation protocol:
- Daily: Spot cleaning, waste removal, and replenishment of hay and water reserves.
- Every 2-3 Days: Tactical bedding replacement for high-traffic zones.
- Weekly: Full System Reset. We remove all residents, sanitize the floors, and swap out all hides and toys for fresh ones.
⚙️ The Setup
Please note that the Guinea Pig Station is currently in a testing phase.
Current Hardware: 4x Tapo TC70 Cameras
Feed: 1080p sensors (Currently streaming at 720p for stability)
Habitat: Two MidWest Plus cages connected to form one massive piggy-supercenter.
Note: We are pending final hardware upgrades and permanent camera mounts. Follow the channel to know when we go live!
📍 Location
The station is located in the central hub of our home.
Because the girls are right in the middle of the action, they are very social. If you see them suddenly freeze or stare intensely, they aren't "glitching", they are likely watching a human walk by or waiting for a snack delivery!
🔍 FAQ
"Did she just eat her poop?!"
Yes. Those are cecotropes. Guinea pigs need to eat these specific droppings to re-absorb vital nutrients like Vitamin B and fiber. It’s a sign of a healthy, functioning digestive system!
"Why is that one hopping and twitching suddenly?"
That is called Popcorning! It’s a literal jump for joy. When piggies are happy or excited, they suddenly bounce into the air, often twisting or kicking their little legs.
"Why are they sleeping with their eyes open?"
As prey animals, guinea pigs rarely close their eyes completely unless they feel 100% safe. If they look like they are staring into your soul while motionless, they are just taking a nap.
"The camera just flashed white! Is everyone okay?"
Yes! That is the Night Vision Transition. When the room lights turn off, our cameras switch to Infrared NightVision. It looks like a flashbang on stream, but it's invisible to the pigs, it's just the camera sensor adjusting to the dark.
